Background

The Blossom LEGO tree was built to mark the LEGOLAND Japan's park's first anniversary and holds a Guinness World Record. Building a Blossom tree wasn't just a coincidence, it was a detailed process.
The idea behind it was respecting Japanese culture by using cherry blossoms or what is called Sakura. It is a culture in Japan to celebrate hanami when people gather under blooming trees to admire the beauty of the blossoms.
So when LEGOLAND Japan planned its first anniversary celebration, it made perfect sense to pay tribute to this cherished custom in a truly great way.
Features
The blossom tree is the type of art you see and you fall in love the first time. It was made from over 800,000 LEGO bricks, this massive structure reaches about 4.4 meters in height and stretches 5 meters wide. It weighs close to 7,300 pounds which is roughly the weight of an actual tree.
The tree was built in the Czech Republic but it was moved and assembled in Japan and it took more than 6500 hours to do that. That's more than 10 months of work. Leaving even the sizes and all, this tree even lights up at night with LEDs which brings out the beauty of the tree.
Design
The Lego Tree isn't just massive, it is beautiful from top to bottom. Not to mention, the pink petals, built from thousands of carefully selected LEGO bricks, perfectly bring out the real sakura flowers in bloom. They're arranged in a way that shows a gentle, airy feel of petals floating in the air just like you'd see during Japan's hanami season.
Adding to the tree are Japanese lanterns, also made entirely from LEGO, hanging among the branches. These lanterns contain built-in lights that glow softly at night, giving the tree a magical theme once the sun sets.
At the bottom, you'll find a full LEGO landscape complete with green bricks shaped like grass, and a peaceful place that invites visitors to stop and take it all in. The tree was built not just to be admired, but to also be lost in it with benches underneath for photo people, and plenty of space for guests to enjoy the view.
Community Feedback
The moment it was unveiled, the world's largest LEGO cherry blossom tree began to attract attention. Visitors to LEGOLAND Japan were in awe, with families, tourists, and LEGO fans crowding around it to take pictures and admire the incredible work of art. For many, it wasn't just a photo time but, the sight of the tree brought about moments of awe.
The tree gained international recognition after the unveiling and Guinness World Records officially certified it as the largest LEGO brick cherry blossom tree. Not to mention, the story was picked up by major news outlets and LEGO sites, where the pictures had lots of interactions.
Conclusion
Beyond the Guiness World Record title, the world's largest blossom tree shows relentless thinking, imagination, the culture of Japan, and most importantly, the workmanship of LEGOLAND. Just connecting bricks into a beautiful tree, this work of art shows us that LEGOLAND is more than just bricks; it is creativity and education
